Parent/Guardian's and Player's Pledge

PVWP Media Policy

PVWP has introduced a media waiver as part of its registration process. This allows the Club to use photos, and occasionally videos, to help us celebrate the sport of water polo, build community/team spirit and attract new players. We endeavor to ensure that all media utilized are appropriate but we recognize that any such judgment is subjective. Consequently, the Club will respond to any reasonable requests from members to remove specific media from PVWP websites, publications and fliers.

Media Release:
By registering to play for Poway Valley Water Polo, the registrant grants permission to Poway Valley Water Polo to procure and use photographs and/or video taken of the player(s) being registered during any Poway Valley Water Polo practice, game or event for use in publications, website, and other forms of media, including email, without prior notification. The registrant waives any right to inspect or approve the finished photographs and/or videos and printed or electronic matter that may be used in conjunction with them now or in the future, whether that use is known to the registrant or unknown, and the registrant waives any right to royalties or other compensation arising from or related to the use of the photographs and/or videos.

USA Water Polo Membership

Registrants agree to maintain current membership of the USA Water Polo Association through the course of every active playing season. Since the PVWP Winter Program typically runs from December to February and USAWP membership runs for the calendar year, registrants for the PVWP Winter Program agree to re-register with USAWP for the new calendar year starting in January.

Pricing Policy

The Poway Valley Water Polo Club is a non-profit athletic club operating in the facilities in the North County of San Diego, primarily the high schools Del Norte, Rancho Bernardo, and Poway. The Club's mission is to serve all members of our community who have a desire to participate in the sport of water polo as a recreational activity, and to provide dedicated athletes with the opportunity to practice and compete at the highest possible level.  The club is run by parent volunteers who strive to keep the fees as affordable as possible, while also providing the kids with a high quality and rewarding experience each season.  Below is an outline of the club’s pricing policy:
* The club cannot offer prorated fees for returning players based on their availability
* There is a sibling discount of 10% for those families with two or more players in any given season.  The 10% discount only applies to the fees of all the children enrolled that season across 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U teams. Siblings within Splashball qualifies  for the 10% sibling discount.
* The club will grant a 50% refund for any player who misses the remainder of a season if injured at or before the halfway point of a season.
* 50% discount for 1st time members who want to joint at or past the halfway point of their 1st season with the club.

“PVWP has the right to refuse or revoke membership to anyone at any time”

Parent Pledge:

PVWP supports the Second-Goal philosophy developed by the Positive Coaching Alliance. Registrants are required to agree to their Second-Goal Parent code of conduct:

1 As a Second-Goal Parent I will let players and coaches take responsibility for the first goal of winning. I will relentlessly focus on the second, more important, goal of using sports to teach life lessons to my child and other youth.
2 I will use positive encouragement to fill the Emotional Tanks of my children, their teammates, and coaches. I understand that people do their best with full E-Tanks.
3 I will reinforce the ELM Tree of Mastery with my child (E for Effort, L for Learning, M for bouncing back from Mistakes). Because I understand a mastery approach will help my child be successful in sports and in life, I will encourage my child to:

• put in a high level of effort to get better,
• cultivate a Teachable Spirit to continue to learn and improve,
• use a Mistake Ritual (e.g., “flushing mistakes”) to quickly rebound from mistakes.

4 I will set an example for my child by Honoring the Game and will encourage him/her to remember ROOTS—respect for the Rules, Opponents, Officials, Teammates, and Self. If the official makes a "bad" call against my team, I will Honor the Game and be silent!
5 I will use a self-control routine to avoid losing my composure when things go wrong. I will take a deep breath, turn away from the game to refocus, count backwards from 100 or use self-talk (“I need to be a role model. I can rise above this.”).
6 I will engage in No-Directions Cheering. I will limit my comments during the game to encouraging my child and other players (from both teams).
7 I will get my child to practice and games on time and will be on time picking my child up after games and practices.
8 I will refrain from making negative comments about my child's coach in my child's presence. I understand that this will help to avoid planting negative seeds in my child's head that can negatively influence my child's motivation and overall experience.
