Sam Collins has been a cornerstone of Poway Valley Water Polo’s success in the past few years. A passionate detailed oriented coach, Sam in 2019 led the 10 & Under team to a 5th place finish in the National Junior Olympic tournament in the Platinum Division, an incredible achievement maintaining the team’s previous 4th place Platinum Division finish in 2018.
Sam began playing water polo at the age of 9 here at Poway Valley. Sam was a four-year Varsity Athlete at RBHS, leading Rancho Bernardo to it’s best record in team history his junior year, and leading his team to a CIF-SDS Division II Finals appearance, the highest in team history. He last played for Palomar College in 2019, and is returning to play at Miramar College following the COVID Pandemic.
Leti is a previous Poway Valley player as well as the current Poway High School Girls JV coach. Leti has coached all levels from spalshball to 10u and is now heading up our girls team.
Carson has played Club water polo with Pacific and Shores. Member of ODP Pacific Southwest Zone Team 2014, 2015, 2016. Lettered in Water polo, swimming, and wrestling at Scripps Ranch High School. 4x San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic Team; 3x Team Captain, 3x Team MVP, and 1x All First Team SDS-CIF for Scripps Men's Water Polo. He lettered in Varsity Water Polo at the United States Naval Academy (2018-2019). Currently Attending Miramar College with aspirations to transfer to another water polo program.
Austin played water polo for Cathedral Catholic High School. During his high school career, he helped to see his team to 3 CIF Open Division championships. Austin also played with Del Mar Water Polo Club where they placed second in the Jr Olympics platinum division. He has also played internationally in Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro.
Austin has experience coaching both high school and club teams. He was previously head varsity coach at Fallbrook High School and as a coach for both F.A.S.T and Pacific Polo but now calls Poway Valley his home. He heads up our 16u team.
Nick has been involved with Davis swimming and water polo for most of my life, first as a competitive player up through high school and then in masters in college, then as a coach for the club as well. Nick trained in Hungary as teenagers and nominated as a coach for the ODP Holiday Camp in 2018 in Colorado Springs. Nick had the opportunity to coach for 5 years with such passionate and experienced coaches as Tracy Stapleton, Doug and Jamey Wright, and Dan Leyson. Nick is currently finishing up a History degree at CSUS with a minor in Middle East & Islamic Studies. We are excited to have him on our team.
